ITUP’s Regional Workgroups were renamed ITUP Regional Equity Collaboratives in 2024! ITUP regional workgroups have been a longstanding forum to listen to local leaders in understanding how policies translate in counties and local communities, and in turn, elevate those lessons learned to statewide conversations.
These annual gatherings provide a unique opportunity to connect with local health care and community-based partners, delve into the impacts of state-level policy on California communities, and engage in meaningful discussions to influence health policy implementation at the local level.
Policy Updates and Discussions:
Attendees stayed informed with the latest state-level health policy updates from ITUP. They engaged in discussions on local-level implementation updates from fellow participants and received a customized policy fact sheet with local health data to support these discussions.
2024 Equitable Health Workforce Discussion:
Participants engaged in facilitated discussions that explored workforce challenges, highlighted promising opportunities to secure a workforce reflective of the communities served, and discussed how to adapt to a changing system, especially as newly insured Medi-Cal beneficiaries entered the health system.
Emerging Issues and Challenges:
Over 50 attendees joined lively small group discussions over Zoom, benefiting from policy updates while considering emerging issues and challenges in the health care landscape.

ITUP and community partners made a tangible impact on health policy at the local level. Your participation in these convenings was crucial in advancing health equity and ensuring that policies meet the needs of all Californians. This year’s ITUP Regional equity collaborative discussions will inform ITUP’s policy work and future convenings, including panel topics and speakers at the ITUP annual statewide conference, Policy Forums, and publications.
