ITUP Legislative Toolkit -In Home Supportive Services (IHSS)
ITUP conducted a second legislative training for the San Diego In-Home Supportive Services (IHSS) Advisory Committee. Shirley Lam, MPH, ITUP’s Assistant Director of Policy, delivered a comprehensive overview of the IHSS program. She also conducted an analysis of the potential impacts following California lawmakers’ recent decision on the 2024-25 budget, which rejected Governor Newsom’s proposal to cut IHSS for low-income older, blind, and disabled immigrants lacking legal residency. Additionally, Shirley discussed AB 817 (Pacheco), including its current status and engagement opportunities for the Advisory Committee.
