*THIS JUST IN*
CMS released a Notice of Proposed Rule Making to implement an ACA provision allowing the release of Medicare claims data. “Qualified” entities may pay an annual fee to collect data on a particular region in order to prepare evaluations and comparisons of provider performance. These publicly available evaluations will allow payors and consumers to make informed decisions about selecting providers in their areas. The NPRM states that CMS will provide patient-level data from the most recent three years. Comments are due by August 8, 2011. Read more from Manatt.
