Kim Belshé, former Secretary of the California Health and Human Services Agency, recently gave an interview in which she discussed the California Health Benefit Exchange and the ways in which it is positioned to expand coverage, improve quality of care and reduce costs in our health care system.
As one of the four named members of the Exchange Board, Belshé outlined several key early tasks for the Exchange, including: hiring an executive director and staff; developing a solid business plan; applying for an establishment grant; determining the scope of the Exchange’s responsibilities as it relates to eligibility and enrollment systems; and working on community outreach and engagement.
It’s a very insightful video that highlights just how much work we all have ahead of us and the vast potential if we do it right.
