Gov. Brown’s Administration Taking Shape

Yesterday, Governor-elect Jerry Brown announced that Diana Dooley will be California’s next Secretary of the Health and Human Services Agency.

“I am humbled by the opportunity,” Dooley said in a statement. “In these difficult times, it’s more important than ever to manage our health and social programs with efficiency and a sense of compassion. And that’s my commitment in taking this position.”

Dooley was a special assistant to Brown during his previous term as governor and currently serves as president and CEO of the California Children’s Hospital Association.

Brown also announced that current director of the Department of Finance, Ana Matosantos, would remain in her position. This marks the first time a Finance Director will have served two governors from two differing parties.

Before joining Schwarzenegger’s administration, Matosantos came from a health background, serving as a consultant to the Senate Committees on Health and Human Services and Budget and Fiscal Review.

We look forward to working with both Ms. Dooley and Ms. Matosantos when the new administration takes over on January 3, 2011.
