CBO Score of HR 3962
GOP Health Bill
The House Republican leadership has drafted their own health reform bill, and it is on it’s way to the CBO for scoring. The plan focuses on driving down costs in order to expand access by allowing the sale of insurance across state lines, creating state high-risk pools, setting limits on malpractice suit payouts, and allowing for insurance pooling of individuals and small business. As it stands, the bill is absent of language that eliminates discriminatory insurance practices against high-risk individuals or that protects current minimum insurance regulations, nor does it address long-term cost containment mechanisms in order bend the cost growth curve.
