A look back…

We will all watch many tributes to Senator Ted Kennedy over the next few days, who dedicated his life and career to America’s poor and fought tirelessly for universal health care. Chances are that the health reform bill may even don his name.
How long has he been committed to this cause? Here is a video from the early 70s where a young Teddy is advocating for a universal health care plan against another proposal set forth by President Nixon. Neither bill passed, but it’s definitely worth a look.
“For me, a few hours ago, this campaign came to an end. For all those whose cares have been our concern, the work goes on, the cause endures, the hope still lives, and the dream shall never die.”
